In 30 days of testing our 8 testers hit 1,990 locations and ran tests on
AT&T Mobility, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless on the
Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.
As shown in the photo and the map below it, our field testers are
gradually working toward the western half of the central valley and the
remaining coastal cities. 60% complete as of last Friday.
Since we began mobile field testing, we've seen a 2-3x increase in average download speeds in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Fresno. As speeds increased so did standard deviations. We are currently seeing standard deviations that equate to 40%+ of the mean for download and 20%+ of the mean for upload.
Over 11,500 speed tests have been performed by the public using the CalSPEED crowdsource apps on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac. Before we limited distribution 18 months ago to the U.S. only, CalSPEED tests were being run all over the world (see map below).
